Blades to fit Veritas planes, made of either A2 or O1 tool steel. They are lapped on the non-bevel side to a flatness tolerance of 0.005mm(0.0002") or better over the working surface, and with an average roughness surface finish of 0.000125mm(5 microinches (0.000005")) or better. Optional 38° and 50° bevel blades and a 38° toothed blade are available for some models. The 38° bevel blade yields an effective cutting angle of 50° (commonly known as a York pitch) and is excellent for general smoothing. The 50° bevel blade is best for working difficult or reversing grain, and the combined cutting angle of 62° produces a Type II chip that eliminates tear-out. The toothed blade is for working difficult grain, especially knots.
